Orlins, President of the National Committee on United States-China Relations, visited Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital (Xixian Branch of Xi’an Fourth Hospital) and was warmly received. Accompanied by Zhou Zhandong, Chairman of Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital and President of the China International Science and Technology Association for Rehabilitation, Dang Minghai, President of Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital, and other senior leaders, President Stephen A. Orlins gained a comprehensive understanding of the hospital’s construction and development.
President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation arrived at Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital for their visit. The hospital’s exterior features a beautiful environment surrounded by lush greenery. The carefully designed ecological landscape not only provides a sense of comfort but also reflects the modern medical concept of a "healing environment." The modern-style signage is eye-catching and highly effective, making it easy for patients to navigate the hospital. Stepping into the lobby, you'll immediately notice how spacious and bright it is. The high ceilings and abundant natural light create a tranquil and warm atmosphere that is a nice change from the usual hospital setting. This atmosphere is designed to reduce anxiety for patients and their families. Upon arrival, President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation were greeted by hospital staff representatives who presented him with flowers as a gesture of warm welcome. To facilitate a deeper understanding of the hospital’s operations and services, Chairman Zhou Zhandong, President Dang Minghai, and President Li Shaowu accompanied President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation on a guided tour.
With a warm smile, President Dang Minghai introduced: “As a key regional medical institution, Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital is dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services to the community. The hospital covers 70 mu and has a total construction area of about 200,000 m². It is planned in two phases, with the first covering about 80,000 m². It is a nonprofit tertiary general hospital with 800 planned beds, 500 of which are currently operational.” While visiting the billing, pharmacy, and medical insurance offices, President Stephen A. Orlins frequently nodded in approval at the neatly uniformed staff who maintained friendly smiles. The delegation also showed appreciative smiles.
In the imaging department on the first floor, an array of internationally advanced medical equipment showcased technological excellence. President Dang Minghai stated: "In order to provide patients with more accurate and efficient diagnoses and treatments, our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices, including a GE 3.0T MRI system from the United States, a Philips 256-slice ultra-premium CT scanner from the Netherlands, a Philips high-end digital subtraction angiography system from the Netherlands, a Shimadzu multifunctional flat-panel X-ray fluoroscopy system from Japan, and a Kuanteng 64-slice CT scanner from China. These devices help doctors gain clearer insights into patients' conditions and provide strong support for clinical treatment." Hospital technicians detailed the performance of the equipment and its critical role in disease diagnosis. President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation paused frequently to observe and listen attentively to the professionals, engaging in in-depth discussions on clinical applications and technical advantages. During a live demonstration of the Philips CT imaging process, President Stephen A. Orlins observed the operational workflow with great interest and praised its precise and efficient imaging technology. Through this visit, President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation gained a firsthand understanding of Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital’s robust capabilities in medical equipment configuration, laying the groundwork for potential future cooperation in medical technology.
Following the visit, a significant honorary president appointment ceremony was held. Chairman Zhou Zhandong solemnly presented the certificate of Honorary President of Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital to President Stephen A. Orlins.
To express his high recognition of the hospital, President Stephen A. Orlins also wrote an inscription on-site: “国医惠民” (National Medicine Benefits the People). These words not only reflect the ancient wisdom of “Heaven benefits the people, and the ruler serves Heaven,” but also convey hopes that Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital will prioritize the people and serve the public while upholding the original intention of medicine. President Stephen A. Orlins expressed his hope that Xi’an Guo Yi Hospital would adhere to the principle of “National Medicine Benefits the People” and continue advancing in medical services and international cooperation to bring well-being to more people. This cultural exchange, mediated through the art of calligraphy, brought the two sides closer and solidified a shared vision for promoting healthcare development.
During the event, President Stephen A. Orlins and his delegation also took group photos with the hospital’s leadership and mid-level management representatives.
